Oh, my.
How could I have forgetten. I have learned much about information technology. I did not grow up like many, or all, of you with computers, e-mails, the internet, etc. I have had to learn everything. My phone was even rotary. My tv did not have a remote. So, I am still learning. That I could creat a blog, and add to it, is amazing to me. I don't think I will go further with pictures, etc. My computer is Windows 98. It does all I want at present-e-mails and the ability to surf the web.
So, once again, goodby.

Well, now it is November 14. So, I am going to add to my blog.
Life Long Learning: Well, I have had a longer life than (I would guess) anyone in the library.
Besides other learning experiences, I didn't get my MEd and school librarian certification until I was 40. So, many of you have time left to follow what path you choose.
I have learned to solve many problems connected to owing a house. I have fixed a light switch and even changed light fixtures. This was done with help from the staff at Westlakes. I learned how to change the oil in my lawnmower. The list goes on.
Having children perhaps involves the most learning-from books, friends, co-workers and doctors. Do you know what the RICE diet is for intestinal upsets?
I have always loved reading and try to read a non-fiction and a fiction at the same time. There is much to learn in this beautiful world of ours.
Well, I could go on, but I don't want to bore you.
Happy learning.

Here I Am
After I had retired from the University, I soon found myself with too much time on my hands. I tried being a temp, but never having been a secretary, I was not very suited for the job. One day, I saw an ad in the paper for a position in circulation at the library. Besides having a masters degree in education, I also was a certified school librarian. So, I decided to apply for the job. Well, lo and behold, I got it. I thought I would stay maybe a year or two. However, I have now been at the library for almost ten years.
I love to work, and I love my job.
I enjoy the patrons. I enjoy seeing people I haven't seen for some time. I enjoy making some of the patrons laugh. I feel rewarded when a patron says I have made their day. I try to always be sensitive to the patrons needs. Unbelievably, I have only had about 6 crabby patrons in all this time.
Oh, I also enjoy my co-workers. Though I am a LOT older than most, I feel a part of the team.
